Hi Jens,

It's correct that you need to refresh your shortcuts in combination with App Volumes,

For know, there are two options available to automate this:

  1. Let User Environment Manager create the refresh shortcut in the startup folder of Windows, this way the -uemrefreshshortcut command will run after the AppStacks     have been attached.(note: this will only work if you connect the AppStacks at logon)
  • Go to the User Environment Manager Management console and go to shortcuts(under the tab User Environment)
  • If you have used the Easy Start button, the Shortcut refresh button is already created(disabled). Open this shortcut and change the programs folder from "VMware UEM" to "Startup" (don't use the quotes) click save and enable the shortcut by rightclicking on it. Now login with a user and check if it works.
  • If you didn't use the Easy Start button, you need to create a shortcut yourself(Check page 78 of the UEM admin guide, how to do this)
  • When creating a shortcut, please use the following details for refreshing the shortcuts: Target: C:\Program Files\Immidio\Flex Profiles\FlexEngine.exe Arguments: -uemrefreshshortcut Destination: Select Programs folder only, and typ Startup behind it.

    2. Let App Volumes refresh the shortcuts with the Allvolattached.bat script(read more about using scripts within AV on page 35 of the user guide).

  • Refreshing the shortcuts can be enabled by attaching your AppStack to a machine with no AV agent installed(this can be done by using your vSphere client).
  • Login to the machine where you have attached the appstack and assign a drive letter to the disk using diskmanagement.
  • Go to explorer and browse to the AppStack(should be visible, because you've assigned a drive letter), now you can create a file called allvolattached.bat in the root of the disk.
  • Edit the file with notepad and add the shortcut refresh command by using the complete path: "C:\Program Files\Immidio\Flex Profiles\Flexengine.exe" -uemrefreshshortcut
  • Return to diskmanagment and remove the drive letter from the AppStack and shutdown the machine.
  • Remove the AppStack from the machine using your vSphere client.
  • Login with a user and check if refresh the shortcuts with AppVolumes works.

If you have questions, let me know.

Regards,

Raymond
