I am currently running Parallels 9 on Yosemite. To go to El Capitan, I will have to upgrade. This seems like a good time to reevaluate Fusion. I ran Fusion back in the 3-4-5 era and for some reason, I don't remember, I made the switch to Parallels. Parallels would like you to think you need to update Parallels every time there is a new release of Mac OS X. This not always the case. I was never able to test Yosemite on my parallels version and this is also the case for El Capitan. This time around, I will update to either Fusion 8 or Parallels 10, so I will have the ability to test El Capitan. My question is what is the oldest version of Fusion that will allow both El Capitan to run as a host and run El Capitan as a VM under Yosemite? This is one of my decision criteria. Do I have the same problem as with parallels? I usually run the new OS X release within several months of its release and would like to test for a short period of time in a VM in the prior release. I run Windows 10 (rarely W7 and Windows XP) and Ubuntu (currently 14.04) in VMs. I will be trialing Fusion 8 and Parallels 10 shortly. Any help would be appreciated.
