Running Workstation 11 on Windows 10 creates unknown devices in Windows

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro.  At first, Workstation 11 (11.1.2 build-2780323) was broken and I had to run a "repair" operation to get it working again.

At this time, Workstation 11 appears to be working correctly, but I have noticed that there are now several "unknown devices" in the Windows 10 device manager.  Looking at the details for the devices, the "device instance paths" are:

ROOT\VMWARE\0002

ROOT\VMWVMCIHOSTDEV/0000

There is also a ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000 but I don't know whether that is coming from Workstation 11 or something else (there is an LSI Adaptec controller in the system, but it has been properly identified and enumerated in the list of devices elsewhere).

What's more, uninstalling and then re-installing Workstation 11 not only fails to eliminate the unknown devices, it seems to create *new* unknown devices that have the same names but a larger number at the end.

Why is Workstation 11 creating these devices that are unknown to Windows 10 and, more importantly, how do I fix the issue?
