Shared folders in shared VMs & Unsharing VM removes user permissions

Hello everyone,

I want to use a VM from my workplace as well as from home.

Is there any way to keep the copy&paste functionality and the shared folder alife for a shared VM?

I need copy&paste when I'm at work and the shared folder from both locations.

As I understand it, the shared VM still runs on the same system, so sharing a folder should not be a technical problem here.

(I need the host's folder on my workplace computer, not a folder on my remote home computer. The latter is just a slave box only starting the shared VM.)

Is it possible to use a local VM like a normal local VM and at the same time have it shared for when I am at home?

I wouldn't mind too much though if it was easy to switch between shared and non-shared VM-state, but there seems to be a bug:

Every time I unshare my VM, I am removed from the VM's files permissions, resulting in an ugly error when trying to boot the vm after unsharing:

Adding permissions for myself back to every single file (*.vmx, *.vmxf, *.vmdk, *.nvram, *.log) is tedious at best.

VMware Workstation 11.1.2 build-2780323

Host: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 6.1.7601, Service Pack 1

Users are Windows domain user accounts.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you
