Are there reasons not to use a standard NFS storage?

Dear all =)

I need to buy new storage, as my current have reached EOL.

As I have years of experience with Solaris/OmniOS ZFS storage, I am thinking of buying a high end HP or IBM server with dual 10Gb NIC for link aggregation and  8x2TB SAS disks in RAID6 and export it over NFSv4 to VMware, which would give me more than enough storage for the next 2 years.

Of course this is not a VMware supported solution, so in case there are any storage issues it would be blamed right away even if it is not the source of the problem. It would also mean I won't get any of the VAAI features.

But from a technical and functional point of view, will there be any issues with using a plain NFSv4 with vSphere 5.5 U2?

Hugs

Jasmine =)
